It must be concerning to feel like symptoms might be returning, especially after enduring nine eye surgeries. While TED can be unpredictable, it’s less common for the disease to reactivate many years after the initial onset. However, it’s not impossible, especially if there are new or persistent triggers, like thyroid hormone imbalances or smoking.

Noticing any changes—like eye alignment, swelling, or discomfort—warrants a check-in with your specialist. They can evaluate whether what you’re experiencing is related to TED or perhaps a different issue related to previous surgeries or scarring.

Have you noticed any other symptoms, like increased redness or discomfort? Keeping track of these might help your doctor understand what’s happening.
