TED is more commonly linked to Graves' disease, but it’s possible, though less common, to experience eye symptoms with Hashimoto’s. Your endocrinologist might be considering subtle signs of TED that align with your thyroid condition, while your eye doctor might not see enough evidence to confirm a TED diagnosis. Sometimes these conditions can overlap or present differently in individuals, which might explain the differing opinions.

It could be helpful to ask both specialists for clarification—your endo might explain why they suspect mild TED, and your eye doctor might share what criteria they look for. If you’re feeling uncertain, a second opinion from a TED specialist or an oculoplastic surgeon might give you peace of mind. How are your symptoms currently? Mild or not, managing symptoms early is always a good move. 💛👁️
